- Current Project:

DELIVERING A HOUSE FULL OF HOPE
The Center for Spiritual Living, a Seattle landmark church since 1921, announced today that yet another step has been taken to support families in Lewis County who have been displaced due to the devastating flood last November. The Center for Spiritual Living has stepped from moving bales of free hay to affected farms to delivering new mobile homes for families left homeless. Through the coordinating efforts of church member and ministerial student Collin King, the church is donating a 2,000 square foot manufactured home from the Stillaguamish Tribe in Snohomish County to a couple who lost their home in Doty, Washington during the flood disaster. The home was donated by Edward Goodridge Jr., Director of the Stillaguamish Tribe.

Transporting the home to its new location in Doty is no easy matter. Stepping up to cover the costs of disassembly and re-assembly, along with transportation is Toby Murray, President and CEO of Murray Pacific Corporation/Westfork Timber Company. It is Toby’s hope that this action can serve as a great example for other companies to get involved in supporting the displaced families in this affected region. “It is truly amazing the power of an idea and the power of the people who put their intentions out there for the Good of others – I am proud to be a part of this.” Toby commented.

Knowing that the house will need an appropriately prepared foundation site when it arrives in Doty, Court Stanley, President, Port Blakely Tree Farms is donating gravel for the new site. He will be joined by a corps of volunteers from the Center for Spiritual Living and their growing network of friends, businesses and organizations, partnering to get make this delivery possible.

“Everyone is moving as quickly as possible to facilitate the delivery of this home to the family in Doty. They really needed it more than a month ago.” said Collin King, project coordinator.

The Center for Spiritual Living has located other manufactured homes and buildings that will also be delivered to the area in the upcoming weeks and months. Additional financial donations to cover the delivery costs of these new homes are needed along with In-kind donations of professional transport support. 100% of all funds raised through the Flood Relief Fund at the Center for Spiritual Living go directly to these efforts.

This is not Center for Spiritual Living's
only flood relief effort: we've also sent two teams of volunteers to Mississippi to help Habitat for Humanity rebuild in the wake of flooding from Hurricane Katrina and hope to do more in the future.

The church was involved earlier in December in raising over $12,000 for the delivery of 80 tons of hay to farming families in the Doty and Boistford areas. Over 800 volunteer hours have been accumulated during these relief efforts to date.
