What
is Religious Science
Religious
Science is an International Religious denomination. It is a
correlation of science, philosophy and the universal truths
found in all major religions. It is a religious philosophy
that can be applied to every day living based on the teachings
found in the Science of Mind
text book written by founder, Ernest
Holmes. Main beliefs
center around the idea that we are all One. We all have access
to the Christ consciousness, the Buddha consciousness, to our
Divine nature as we are each willing to wake up to that.
History
of Religious Science
Center
for Spiritual Living is a member of the United Church of Religious
Science. The denomination of Religious Science began as the the
Institute of Religious Science and School of Philosophy in
1927 founded by Ernest Holmes, (1887-1960).
Set up as an educational institution with the focus being on
teaching people how to think in new ways about spirituality
and their connection to life itself. The Institute eventually
evolved into the Religious denomination, Religious Science.
An eager and widely well-read student of world religions and metaphysics, Holmes created
the Science
of Mind philosophy as a synthesis of all he studied. (What We Believe.) He believed
that religion should be practical and provable, hence the
name Religious Science, and created a unique and effective
style of affirmative prayer known as Spiritual Mind Treatment,
which is taught in classes at Center for Spiritual
Living. Our denomination has approximately 165 churches throughout
the United States and Canada and is a member of the International
New Thought Alliance.
